US Government Should Not Sell Its Bitcoin
Ross mentioned the US government’s recent Bitcoin selling spree and asked Trump if he would support the digital assets if he were to win the November election.
Trump said that this is something that the government should not be doing because they should be trying to build it. He mentioned that China is doing it, and other countries are doing the same.
Recent reports from Arkham Intelligence revealed that last week a wallet labeled as belonging to the US government transferred about $2 billion in Bitcoin to an unidentified wallet. It seemed that the coins were linked to funds of the US DOJ previously confiscated from Silk Road.
This transfer came a couple of days after the former US President offered his keynote speech in support for Bitcoin and crypto during the Bitcoin Conference.
During his interview with Ross, Trump likened crypto to AI, saying that people either love or hate it. He said that China and other countries are supporting crypto, and if the US doesn’t do the same, the country will be left behind.
Bitcoin has been a political subject this year with the upcoming election in the US set for November 5.
The current administration made it very clear that they’re not supportive of Bitcoin and crypto, while Trump has been showing increased support for the industry.
