Ahead of an upcoming HBO documentary that promises to reveal the identity of Bitcoin’s founder, a series of memecoins inspired by late cryptographer Len Sassaman and his cats have surfaced on the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana networks.
Sassaman’s Growing Popularity
Sassaman, who dominated the Polymarket betting pool on the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym behind Bitcoin’s creation, has gained significant attention in the crypto community. Many believe he will be named as the likely Bitcoin creator in the HBO documentary titled “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery”, set to air on October 8.
In anticipation of the reveal, various memecoins named after Sassaman and his cats, Sasha and Odin, have been created. LEN, SASHA, and Odin are some of the memecoins that have emerged in the past week, fueled by Sassaman’s rising popularity among Polymarket bettors.
Rising Memecoin Values
SASHA, a Solana memecoin modeled after Sassaman’s orange cat, has seen a 70% increase in the past day, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Since its launch, SASHA has achieved a market cap of $1.2 million.
Meanwhile, the memecoin named after Sassaman’s other cat, Odin, has risen over 15% in the past day on GeckoTerminal. Although not as popular as SASHA, Odin has accumulated a market cap of $236,000 in just two days. The Odin memecoin is also powered by Solana.
In addition to the cats, several memecoins were also created for Sassaman under the ticker LEN. LEN tokens on Solana and Ethereum were created by traders in the past week, reaching a market capitalization of several million before reducing gains.
A LEN token issued over four months ago, claiming to be the first to be issued on Solana, saw a price boost last week and now has a market cap of over $1.6 million.
On the eve of the HBO documentary’s premiere, Sassaman’s odds are nearly at 40% based on the Polymarket “Who will HBO doc identify as Satoshi?” market. His odds are closely followed by those who believe that Satoshi is a group of people or someone entirely unknown, with 38% odds.
Adam Back, CEO of Blockshare, has the second highest odds with more than 7%. He is also set to appear in the HBO documentary, according to the trailer.
